內容簡介：

After a brief review of the first demographic transition (FDT) and the challenges encountered following the completion of FDT with regard to zero population growth and replacement fertility, the speaker will make a comparison between FDT and SDT (Second Demographic Transition) in terms of their connection and difference . The speaker will then focus on a discussion on SDT in Asia based on the forum carried out in the special issue of China Population and Development Studies (SPDS), particularly as pattern of SDT in Asia emerging as distinctive or transitory, and ended with the mission for demographic research in the 21st century.
